ORIGINAL PAINTING

Surge Beneath the Moon

Surge Beneath the Moon is an original painting from my Under Pressure collection, there is no other like it. Inspired by night dives in the cold waters of a Scottish loch, each piece in this series explores the tension and unexpected beauty of diving in darkness: bioluminescent light, moonlit surfaces, sudden flashes of torch lit colour.

These paintings were built up in layers of texture paste and acrylic paint using brushes and palette knives, and some paintings have goldleaf highlights. These mixed-media works have real presence and texture, the kind you can only fully appreciate in person.

FRAMING SUGGESTION

The Float Frame

The Float Frame

Surge Beneath the Moon has been painted on 4mm thick canvas board and is ready to frame. At 8 x 6 inches, it suits a wide range of frame styles but looks particularly beautiful in a float frame with a large mount behind it. Float mounting raises the canvas slightly above the mount board, creating a shadow and giving it a contemporary, gallery-quality finish. The edges of Surge Beneath the Moon are painted black to give a neat finish.

No glass is needed for paintings on canvas board, which means the colours and texture of the painting can be appreciated without any glass getting in the way. This painting has been varnished to protect it from UV light and to make cleaning it easy.

Your Painting, Carefully Wrapped

Every painting leaves my studio wrapped with the same care that went into creating it.

The painted surface is protected with glassine, then sealed in a bubble wrap bag. Blue tissue paper and a contrasting ribbon add a small flourish before the artwork is revealed. A second layer of bubble wrap and a stiff outer envelope keep it safe in transit, dispatched by Royal Mail or courier, always tracked.

Inside you'll also find a hand-written thank you note and a Certificate of Authenticity.
