Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a home commission take?

Most home commissions are completed within 6-8 weeks from concept approval. This allows time for careful consideration of your space and preferences, plus the unhurried creation process that ensures quality.

It also depends on my current painting and work commitments, so do check with me if you need your painting(s) for a specific date.

Can I be involved in the creative process?

Absolutely! I love collaborating with clients who are excited about their commission. You'll see concept sketches, progress photos, and have opportunities to provide input throughout the creation process.

What if I'm not sure about colours?

That's part of the consultation process. I can create small colour studies or digital mockups to help you visualise how different palettes might work in your space. We won't proceed until you're completely confident in the direction.

How do you price home commissions?

Pricing reflects the artwork's size and complexity.

As a guide:

Small pieces (up to 60cm): From £800

Medium pieces (60-100cm): From £1,200

Large pieces (100cm+): From £2,000

Each commission includes consultation, concept development, progress updates, and advice on placement and lighting.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, for commissions over £1,000, I offer flexible payment arrangements. This makes it easier to invest in original art without stretching your budget. We can discuss options that work for your situation.

What about framing?

I paint on stretched canvas, which is a heavy-duty fabric, made of cotton or linen, stretched over a wooden frame. You can choose to have a frame depth of 2 or 4 cm (approx). The canvas doesn't need framing. The painting will be ready to hang when you receive it.

Can you work around our family life?

Of course! I understand that homes with children need practical considerations. We can discuss placement that works with your family's needs, and I always use high-quality materials and protective varnishes for durability.

My water-inspired abstract paintings draw from years of photographing water for editorial publication, primarily from kayaks and through diving. The Commission Process

1. Initial Chat

We'll discuss your space, your style, and what you hope the artwork will bring to your home. This can be over coffee, via video call, or through email, whatever feels most comfortable.

2. Space Assessment

I'll ask for photos of your room and discuss the lighting, existing colours, and how you use the space. This helps ensure the finished piece works perfectly in your environment.

3. Concept Development

You'll receive initial sketches or colour studies showing the proposed painting. This is your opportunity to refine the direction and ensure you're completely happy before I begin the full painting.

4. Creation Updates

I'll share progress photos so you can watch your painting come to life. It's exciting to see your unique artwork developing!

5. Completion & Delivery

Once finished, if you live in London, I will personally hand-deliver the painting to your home at no additional cost.

If you live outside London, a specialist courier will need to be hired to deliver the painting(s). This will be an additional cost and will be discussed with you before you commit to the commission.
