Copyright

Everything on this website is my own work: the paintings, the photographs of them, the writing and the design. Copyright in all of it belongs to me, Annette Price, under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and I assert my right under sections 77 and 78 of that Act to be identified as the author of my work wherever it is shown, published or reproduced.

What you are buying

When you buy one of my paintings you are buying the painting itself: the physical, original, hand made object, yours to live with, lend, insure and pass on. Copyright stays with me. That is the normal arrangement in the art world, and it is what allows me to photograph the work for my portfolio, show it in exhibitions and include it in my own books, cards and prints later on. It does not affect your ownership of the painting in any way.

The same applies to commissioned work. Copyright in a commission remains with me unless we agree otherwise in writing.

What you are very welcome to do

Photograph your painting in your home or your workplace, and share those photographs with friends, or on social media. A credit to Annette Price is always appreciated and often leads someone else to the work.

Tell people where you bought it. Write about it. Send me the photograph, because seeing a painting in the room it was made for is one of the best parts of this job, and with your permission I would love to share it.

Business clients: you are welcome to photograph a commissioned work in place and use those photographs in your own communications and on your website and social media, with a credit. Anything beyond that, such as advertising, printed reproduction, packaging or merchandise, is a licence, and licences are easy to arrange.

What needs my permission first

Please do not copy, reproduce, print, scan, crop, alter or manipulate my artworks or my photographs, in whole or in part, or make new works derived from them, without my written permission. That includes reproducing an image as a design element, a background or a print.

Please also do not paint over, cut down, re varnish or otherwise alter an original work, or remove my signature or the label on the reverse. If a painting ever needs cleaning or repair, talk to me first. I made it, so I am usually the best person to look after it.

Text and data mining, and AI

I expressly reserve all rights in the images and text on this site for the purposes of text and data mining, machine learning and the training or development of artificial intelligence systems. No permission is given for any such use.

Licensing

If you would like to license an image for a book, a product, a publication, a hotel, a development or anything else, do get in touch. I enjoy licensing work and I am straightforward to deal with. See Licensing or email me.

Artist's resale right

Where one of my works is resold through an auction house, gallery or dealer, the artist's resale right may apply. It is collected by the relevant collecting society rather than by me directly.
