Elemental Exhibition: Celebrating Art, Nature and Female Creativity in Chelsea
The evening of the 6th of March 2024 was one I'll never forget. After months of planning and organising the Elemental Exhibition, the Private View was finally here, and honestly, it was a mix of everything: pride, relief, joy, and a fair few emotions I hadn't quite anticipated.
Elemental brought together four female artists; Yang Xu, Faye Knight, Mee Mee Chai, and myself, at the Chelsea Gallery in the Old Town Hall on the Kings Road, London. The exhibition celebrated our individual relationships with the natural world, from bold abstract water paintings to impressionistic landscapes and mixed media works inspired by flora, fauna and the elements.
The Private View drew a wonderfully diverse crowd, familiar faces and new ones, fellow creatives, art enthusiasts, and collectors, all coming together in one room to experience the work. As the organiser of the exhibition, watching guests move through the gallery, pausing in front of paintings, striking up conversations, was genuinely moving. All those months of hard work suddenly felt very worth it.
The evening had a warm, relaxed atmosphere, guests enjoyed the drinks and snacks we'd laid on, while the conversations flowed just as freely. There's something quite magical about a private view; it's that rare moment when the work steps out of the studio and into the world, and you get to be there when it lands.
It was a truly special night, and a highlight of my journey as an artist so far. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and made it so memorable.
