Abstractions in Blue

Abstractions in Blue
Mixed media;
- Acrylic paints
- House paint
- Sand
- Talcum powder
- PVA glue
- Enamel paint
- Wood base approx. 13cm x 25cm
For this painting I wanted to create atmosphere through the use of texture.
So I began by mixing sand, talcum powder, PVA glue and matte white house paint. This created a stiff, coarse gravel texture paste which I coated the wooden base with.
Once dried, I painted it white and worked a pale blue acrylic into the wet paint, intending to build up the texture. The painting didn't seem to be taking advantage of the textured surface at all, so I started dribbling paint, dripping white and gold and then adding blue and red. Later I added more texture by rubbing blue, white and red acrylic onto my Gelli plate and lightly dabbing it onto the painting.
Check back tomorrow for another painting.....
